    [Highly rated reviewer]

I saw this last year at the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, followed by an interview with director J. B. Ghuman Jr. and Rachel G. Fox (who plays leader of the mean girls, Betsy Byotch - best name ever). This is an absolutely incredible film that melds the sensibilities of John Waters and Todd Solondz (with a pinch of Gregg Araki, but just a pinch), whilst retaining real heart at its centre, thanks in no small part to the performance of Savannah Stehlin in the title role.

Spork is like the lovechild of Hairspray (orig) and Welcome to the Dollhouse. It combines the former's visual flair with the latter's sense of alienation. It is completely baffling to me that Spork is yet to find a wide release, because it genuinely deserves to find its audience. There are a lot of people out there who would LOVE and cherish this film. Also, anybody who has seen it will hopefully agree with me that Willow Smith TOTALLY ripped it off for the Whip My Hair video.
