80's class....
By Paul from Lancashire , 23 Oct 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Do you remember a time before chavs?. A time when people on social security still wanted to find a job?. If you do then you remember the 1980's..... This film is a classic from a decade when films like Saint Elmo's Fire reflected the times like no other. If you are too young to have been around in the 80's watch this film. You will have a good laugh at the hair styles, and maybe the clothes. But the soundtrack is one to remember. Enjoy.- Was this review helpful to you?

(34)This is not the 80's sentimental film you want
By DaiBoy81 (10 reviews) from Barnet , 23 Jan 2013THIS IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE BREAKFAST CLUB OR PRETTY IN PINK. Really shocked by this and not in a good way unfortunately. You had the brat pack, 80's music and style, I just thought is was going to be classic but it was a bit shallow really. The main problem is there's just too many characters and no story or character gets enough time. The characters and their motivations just don't add up. It is really random and the storylines are just a bit too hard to believe. Sadly, you don't have enough time to really get to like the characters and end up taking a dislike to them. It's all just a bit random, to the point where if you saw a spaceship in the last 5 minutes it wouldn't look out of place. Rob Lowe's story about St Elmo's fire is just madness. It all feels forced, as if they wanted a brat pack film, had the money, the time but forgot to get the story. If you're looking for 80's sentiment try breakfast club, pretty in pink, ferris bueller. If you want to see total randomness and demi moore with bad hair watch this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Storytelling at its best
By ross_edwin (18 reviews) from Leeds , 01 Jul 2011A long time ago (80s) in a place far far away (America)...
Everything seemed a lot cooler than now.
Brilliantly structured characters make up the story about growing up, failing, and self-realisation.
Don't expect detention, skipping school, sweat bands, mermaids or mannequins.
Do expect quick dialogue, passion for friendships, wearing a scarf, everyone having a full head of hair, an amazing soundtrack, and apartments with balconies.
This is what Hollyoaks should be.- Was this review helpful to you?

Enjoyable Film
By socialme (12 reviews) from Derby , 17 May 2011Enjoyable film.
Not the best from the 'Rat Pack' but I still liked it.
A little slow at the start but once you get into each of the couple's stories it becomes a lot more interesting.
Great soundtrack.
