After seeing an advanced preview of this film. I have decided to fill in some details that you need to know before going to see this film. Due to the fact when I told my mate it’s a vampire film he thought twig light

The type of film is horror vampire, not twilight. The vampires are the bad guys and they don’t twinkle in the light. The world is gritty, everyone doesn’t take their shirt off at a moment’s notice and no one looks like they spend all day in the gym.

So this film is a road/survival/coming of age film. Following the journey of two as they head to a promise land of Eden to escape the vampires and be safe.

This isn’t a closet monster film so no jumps.

The film is solid in story, acting and well shot. There is a missed beat towards the end where the film starts to sneak into big bad territory like say blade but that is short lived.

One thing that I found to be a bit of a mistake on the part of the story was, mister is supposed to be a hard nut that kills vampires. Due to this he gets recognition and respect. However all through the film you see mobs of civilians (and another group) manhandling vampires like animals. So if anyone can manhandle them why is he held is so much regard.

all in all a lot better than daybreakers

  • Real killer vampires - brilliant!!!

Vampire movie as it should be gritty, moody and plain evil. Not like twilight thank goodness these vampires are bad. No shiny eyes and workouts. Mister trains his sidekick the art of killing vampires, and the budding relationship between them. They carry on North aiming to Eden for survival and to end the relentless tirade of vampires. This movie is gritty and believable and doesn't make vampires out to be lovely, likeable creatures. I was slightly confused with the ending, but it was probably just me. x x x

  • Zombieland for vampires - minus the humour

    Rated - 3.0 stars

A good solid horror movie and every watchable. Its always a good sign for me when I decide 'I'll just watch the start while I have my lunch' and end up sitting through the whole film. The film looks the part, all natural tones, run down but recognisable US towns. What was lacking is the humour that made Zombieland such a triumph. Both had relatively the same set up of the US over run by monsters and a few protaganists trying to find a new home in the world. The leads in both films provide narration. Which is all fine but the crowbarring in of a villain for our heroes in Stake Land disrupts the last third of the film nor is there a clear conclusion (its more like it was meant to set up a sequel).

If you're a fan of post apocalyptic movies of vampire movie then this will engage and entertain you. The story line was good and carried by engaging performances but if you're not a fan of these kind of films it isn't for you. But I am a fan and I enjoyed it.

not up there with Blade but soooo much better than Twilight! definitely worth watching, the vampires aren't sparkly pansies but actual bloodsucking, 'rip you apart' monsters!
