Star Trek - The Animated Series

Following on from the original series, STAR TREK – THE ANIMATED SERIES sees the crew of the Starship Enterprise facing new, more elaborate adventures. Utilising 1970s state-of-the-art special effects, the animators were able to let their imaginations run unbridled in ways that could never have been realized in the live action series. There's an underwater adventure, an encounter with a giant fire-breathing two-headed dragon, and the crew gets shrunk down to 1cm. Any self-respecting Trekkie will want this in their collection. Includes all 22 episodes.

    A must for Trekkies

These cartoons are fun and I think most Star trek fans will enjoy them. The animation is very dated and there are some obvious errors in the cartoons. Watch the helmsmen in particular in the early episodes, McCoys shirt changes colour inexplicably in one scene and in another he is talking to Kirk from the medical room then is next to Kirk on the bridge while still talking to Kirk from the medical room. These cartoons are aimed at kids so the stories are a bit simplistic at times but Gene Roddenberry was involved, scripts were written by DC Fontana and other Star Trek writers and all the main characters except Chekov who never appears are voiced by the actual actors from the original including Majel Barrett. (Koenig wrote an episode though). Uhurus characters is developed a bit more and we learn some more about Spocks childhood. James Doohan does loads of other voices other than Scotty Some quite interesting non human aliens and land scapes are presented. Worth watching for Trek fans, am not sure if non Trek fans will like them.
