I wanted to see the 'Best of Both Worlds' again, so I had hoped that I would be sent the last disk of the third season first rather than this one first, but it was not to be. The impact of the Borg, not just on ST:TNG but on the design of a lot of SF series has been profound. Indeed I would maintain that the Borg did for the Next Generation what the daleks did for Doctor Who, namely, established it as a premium SF series. I remember when ST:TNG first came out, it was unfavourably being compared to the original series, as the first enemies, the Ferengi, were laughable compared to the Klingons and the writers thought about bringing back the Romulans, but the Borg helped to stretch the imagination. Even though the episode is almost 15 years old, the sfx still compare favourably to modern offerings. The only dislike I had of the story was the sub-plot involving Riker - who cares if he should be applying for a captaincy on another vessel?
as with all of the last disks in the set this only contains two episodes
content good as usual but how many interviews with cast can you stand!!
hence only three stars
