The first three Star Wars films reworked as creator George Lucas had intended. Using state of the art technology, Lucas and his team cleaned up the prints, updated the special effects and added new footage. Originally released before 'Episode I' the films have been renamed to fit in with Lucas's original vision. The stories tell of the adventures of a band of fearless rebels who try to take on the might of the awesome Empire, led by the evil Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. Throughout their quest, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2D2 and C3PO meet terrifying foes, new allies and bizarre creatures. In 'Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope' (1977), on discovering a secret hidden inside a droid that his family have bought, young farm hand Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) becomes involved in a battle between the forces of light and the evil Empire. Along the way he meets up with a Knight of an ancient order (Alec Guinness), a roguish space pilot (Harrison Ford), a beautiful princess (Carrie Fisher) and an evil tyrant. In this remastered version, the famous missing scene between Han Solo and Jabba the Hutt (and other smaller scenes) have been added. In 'Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back' (1980), after the destruction of the Death Star, the rebels led by Luke (Hamill) and Leia (Fisher) are on the run from the vengeful Empire. Holed up on an inhospitable ice planet, the Rebels are soon discovered and must flee across the galaxy. Luke decides to visit an old Jedi Knight while Han and Leia become involved in a game of cat and mouse with Vader and a host of bounty hunters led by Boba Fett. 'Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi' (1983) is the final part of the trilogy. With Han (Ford) still being held captive by Jabba, his friends Luke, Leia, Lando, Chewbacca, R2 D2 and C3 PO plan a rescue mission. After that, the intrepid group must make another assault on the new, more powerful Death Star and Luke must face his destiny in the shape of Darth Vader and the Emperor. Also included is the two and a half hour documentary 'Empire of Dreams - The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy'.

THE UNDISPUTED WINNER

Five stars plus 5000000000000. The original Star Wars can NEVER be beaten. That's when they made movies in the 70s and 80s no hidden bull. Just real.

Great fun

Still great fun, even after all these years!

Not entirely convinced by the three-way relationship between Leia, Han and Luke, but hey, the big battles are what its about.

And Vader is still the bast baddie (... apart from the daleks, arguably!)

Still the best coming of age movie, 35 years and counting

Problems with this DVD? Ewoks, and HAN SOLO DIDN'T SHOOT FIRST!

Apart from that no complaints at all. THE coming of age story that unites geeks and the cool kids under one banner. Superb characters from beginning too end, good vs evil just as it should be, and one of the most complex, threatening and iconic villains ever brought to life.

I honestly feel many people who hate this movie do so because they feel required to. Come-on! My favorite movies Finding Nemo; if you like a a movie its not your problem if someone else cannot take it.

Go in with an open mind and you'll love this movie. Its a plot that's been done to death; but remember it was the first one to do it. Great fun from start to finish and definitely on my top ten list

anyone who is a sci fi fan will love these films, they are classical and timeless

great effects and all star cast amazing, nuff said
