5 volumes in total containing 20 episodes.
It's great that you have TV shows on this service as British video libraries are hopeless when it comes to TV shows - but I'd like to aske for ONE wee feature, that with these volumes, you list the episodes (or at least, the number of episodes) on each disc.
This will help us to choose more effectively - as we may well have seen particular episodes already.

Gotta hand it to them... they had a whole lotta Stargate to live up to and it seems to have paid off. The Atlantis Stargate opens up a whole new set of worlds to explore, with new friends to be made, and new foes to get caught by (and escape from, of course). The crew may take a little getting used to, although they are not all total strangers to Stargate followers (I think casting the guy who played Sam Carter's Tollan admirer as Dr Weir's partner was probably a confusing mistake - but for the cameo appearance he makes, it shouldn't make a great difference).
Anyway, if you've been enjoying Colonel (now General) O'Neill's team's exploits, Atlantis is a must.
So many series suffer from initial problems, actors getting to grips with the characters, etc. etc. Star Trek TNG/Voyager for example, took ages to settle in to a good format. Startgate Atlantis im pleased to say does not fall in to this catagory. From the first episode, to the last in the series, it was excellent. The characters were very likeable and different enough from the original (although there are some similarities), so as not to make the stories seem samey. My only problem was with the very last episode - what a cliffhanger! I now have to wait months to see what happens!!!
In summary, this should appeal to anyone who likes the original - but you dont really have to know anything about it if you're a Stargate Virgin. Rent with confidence.

If you are thinking of giving Stargate Atlantis a go and you are not sure if its worth the time or as a good as SG-1 then let me tell you it is brilliant. As a huge SG-1 fan I was sceptical about Atlantis and left it alone for over two years. Then I decided to give a go and havent looked back. Great stories, great acting and the Wraith are quite simply brilliant baddies. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) is one of the best characters of ANY sci-fi show. Give this disc a try and be prepared to put the others in your rental list.

I know the idea of parasitical aliens is not new, but how cool are the Wraith. Unfortunatly there are some really iritating characters along for the ride, aswell as some real sappy ones too. Well lets hope the Wraith are hungry in future episodes so we dont have to put up with the hangers on for too long! This show has potential (as much as a spin off can have) well worth the time if you are a stargate fan.
very good to watch look ford ward to the next one
When I first heard about Stargate Atlantis I thought it would be a rehash of SG1 adventures. I was wrong. I really enjoyed these first 4 episodes. A new universe to explore. This was very entertaining a good amount of action and laughs. Even in these 4 episodes the characters were likeable and relationships between them work well. Give it a try.
The move for a difrent type of series i think was a brill idea. i enjoyed each one and was on the ege of my seat and the humor well i was in stichies. can't wait to watch season 2-vol.1
well recomed well done Stargate.
I already knew what Stargate was all about having been a television viewer - always enjoyable
