Your probably going to enjoy watching this series. A spin off from the original SG-1, it has a new group of characters travelling to the Lost City of Atlantis and taking up residence there, partially because they cant leave and also because it was home to the Ancients.
The action is maintained throughout each of the episodes, and ties in nicely with some of the episodes from SG-1 (and also features guest appearances). There is also a new enemy to deal with called the Wraith, who are supposedly more powerful and dangerous than the Goa'uld.
If you felt that in the last series of SG-1, there were some awful episodes that had nothing to do with the Stargate, and that the writers had run out of ideas, then do not fear, Atlantis is a completely fresh take on the Stargate franchise and in terms of quality per episode, it is probably better than the last series of SG-1.
My only quarrel with Stargate Atlantis, is with the actress who plays Dr.Weir; she's awful and seems to be stuck with a single expression on her face- worry. You will see what I mean.
However, the writing and plot is fresh and is helped by a cast of competent actors. All in all a promising new series, that has added a new aspect to the already popular Stargate series.
Don't waste you selections on this, predictable and boring, ok for the kids
I like this show. As an avid fan of Stargate: SG1, I am pleased to see that there's enough story, humour and character building to stretch to a spin-off. The bickering between Rodney & Shepherd is brilliantly performed. Rodney was primarily annoying in SG1, but has cut himself a far more likeable niche in Atlantis.
Likeable characters, inter-woven storylines, and a bit of action here and there too.
I'm still puzzled why these guys didn't take any ZATs and Staff Weapons with them to Atlantis though...
Excellent series which is building up to a sesson end climax. If you like this type of entertainment you'll like this. Well acted with good special effects.
the Scot is not a scot. the Canadian is a woose. the yank is a smart arse (as usual). written by idiots for idiots.
continuity is so poor.
will not be looking viewing any more of these. it is just nonsense.
if you must watch it, see it on the TV and don't waste you money renting or buying it.
