Well, they've finally found their feet. The first few episodes of Atlantis in Season one were generally a bit poor. The characters weren't very strong, they were for the most part not greatly well acted - done as stereotypes.
There were a few hints of more interesting things to come - McKay not having a great childhood, Shephard being qualified to join Mensa, etc, but in general it didn't work too well.
The last few episodes of the season, however, were well-written, fast paced and beautifully characterised. I'm happy to report that this continues into Season 2.
Not to give spoilers away, but people will be happy with the resolution of the Siege on Atlantis, it paves the way for more fun with the Wraith later on.
I'm also very pleased to report that the silly episodes still continue, with one, involving McKay, Beckett, a random (female) military person, and a Wraith dart, being one of my favourite Stargate episodes ever.
Heartily recommended as a series.
This series is fun. Much better than series 1. I started watching these discs not really liking any of the main characters in this series (having watched series 1). During the watching of this series I 'warmed' to Rodney and the Doctors character and theres a new main character - who I won't tell you about - that livens things up a bit. The wraith are explored and developed a bit more. Overall better than series one. Not rocket science, not the most amazing show ever but a pleasant sci fi show to watch when theres nothing worth while on TV.
