[Highly rated reviewer]***RIP DON S. DAVIS***
As a massive fan of SG-1 for the last decade along with Atlantis, which is ofcoruse now entering its 5th year, i was left feeling a little dissapointed by the way SG-1 ended or 'unended' as it were. The first SG-1 movie (Ark of Truth) did a decent job of closing up the Ori story strands but felt a little forced; this on the other hand is a whole 'different ball game' to quote Amanda Tapping.
Now without the need to match up to existing storylines Continuum able to hit the ground running and take the story where ever it wanted. The basic plot is that Bal has gone back in time to the 1930's and stopped the gate reaching America therefore changing world history to the point where the SGC is never established and therefore the fall of the Gou'd. However, since SG-1 are in transit through the gate at the time they are protected and end up in the alternet world and work to put things right.
Whats great about this plot is that it allows them to bring back all the charaters from SG-1 (even Jay Davidson from the 1994 movie) such as the late Don S. Davis. The production values are also high with the US armed forces clearly going out of their way to help production since they view Stargate as an amazing recruitment opertunity.
I don't want to give to much away in this review so i'll stop there but i really enjoed this movie and i hope they make many more in the years to come; along with the new Stargate Universe concept.

good long episode aka filmBy cambourne7 (17 reviews) , 18 Nov 2011Not seen the Ark of truth when i got this but it was a very good film more like a long episode of stargate. Watchable and if you buy into the whole stargate story then its quite a believable premise for the film
Pah! GateBy stefield (34 reviews) from London , 26 Jul 2011It's all been downhill since the first movie for me, and none more so than this series.
Give it a miss

True SG1 StyleBy a customer , 25 Jun 2011Not as engrossing as Ark Of Truth though it contains reminiscences of SG1. Still highly adictive to the Stargate fan.
Stargate-Continuum, a fair film for a great series...By munchkinraves (23 reviews) from London , 18 May 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]I am a very big fan of the Stargate SG1, and Atlantis series'..This film was a bit of a let down-I expected a bit more.On 'paper' it sounded great: a fab bad guy[Bal-a system Lord, and 'thorn in the side for SG1']; good plot- time travel, good triumphing over evil;the whole crew together!! Where can it go wrong? In the detail, and the acting, or lack thereof. 1. the new girl,Vala: there was so little of her! Her reviews are good, the material with her in it also very good.Where was she,but for 1/4 of the film? 'Old guy', General Jack O'Neal[Richard D. Anderson] acted as though he did not want to be there...
Thank heaven for the series being as superb as it is!!
