I found this volume to be better as the last one as it showed Amanda Tapping appearing while at the same time Claudia Black leaving as she was transported into the Ori galaxy. The writers did a exceptional tasks of showing Vala, as she realises the consequences of her selfish actions as the pretended to be the goddess Qetesh (The Powers that Be). While in the other episode Beachhead sees Maury Chaykin guest star as the Goa'uld Nerus - who loves nothing better than feasting. Nerus comes through the stargate to warn the SGC that the Ori have started to wipe out the Jaffa on a distant planet. In Ex Deus Machina sees the return of lord Ba'al, it was interesting see how the writers they set him up on earth as a potential Richard Branson character. The Babylon looks at an legendary group of warriors called the Sodan but Mitchell gets into a firefight (just like the last samarui). I liked the extra characters - Tony Todd (who is better known as Candyman and numerous roles in the Star Trek franchise) makes a guest appearance, as does William B Davis (the X-Files smoking man).
The series really has kicked off well, the new cast hasn't changed the layout of the episodes, the change is quite refreshing. Well worth watching if you've missed out!
