I have been following this on Sky and think at times it can be slow but as a whole it keeps you thinking, your consitently following plots at the same time.

You have to keep working out who is working with who, what is the ship doing and why? Will they ever be able to control the ship?

If you are a follower of Stargate or even if you are not I would defo recommend this!

    Enjoy!

    Come on Season 2

  • The very worst of the very worst

Stargate SG1 was my all time favourite TV series, until I saw Stargate Atlantis, which was even better. Stargate Universe was the most catastrophic downfall since Lucifer was thrown out of heaven. The entire first series was a masterful achievement of utter and total boredom, an entire TV sci-fi series when nothing, absolutely nothing ever happened. No exaggeration, the biggest threat faced by the crew was when they loaded up some frozen ice to replenish their water supplies, then found it had bacteria in it - that was two whole episodes. Then there was the one where the air filters were running out of the chemical they needed. And then there was the episode where they fount a big monolith, but we never found out what it was, and the one where they nearly missed getting back onto the ship. You may ask how the team which delivered the other, fantastic, Stagate series ended up producing this load of old cobblers, and the answer to that question is quite straightforward. They tried to emulate the dark, broody tensions seen in Battlestar Galactica, and in that they were quite successful - yes, the characters were unpleasant and couldnt work together, but so what, that didnt make for good entertainment in either series. Then there were the stones. As annoying as the hologram suite in Star Treck, these stupid stones allowed crew members to nip back to earth in someone esles body to sort out their love lives and visit Mum. A total waste of time which was hated by every viewer. Sadly this pathetic drivvel has ruined the Stargate franchise. If you hire it, dont say you werent warned.

  • Brilliant series, such a shame...

Brilliantly written, superb cast, less predicatable and siginificantly less corny than it's predecessors, such a shame the SciFi channel decided to cancel it after only two of its five sesons, so much more could be done with the story. The story line also relies much less on mythology than the others, hence it is less predictable and there is a good attempt to develop the characters over time. It is worth watching, even though the story just stops.

  • You either like SG1 or this.. probably not both.

I can see why other people will think its very good because the characters are very real and it obviously has a bigger budget than SG1 and Atlantis put together, but for me there is too much character development and emotional blabbering and not enough actual plot. They go from one 'we're all gonna die' situation to the next and then the next and it gets boring seeing them all worrying about their impending doom over and over.
