Stark Raving Mad
30th November 2004
This is one of those little gems that you only manage to come across by accident. With a good sense of style and an interesting blend of supporting characters this movie makes the most of what is an idea that has been played out a few times before. Yes it's similar to the likes of Snatch and Go but doesn't feel like those films. it is played, for the most part. completely straight leaving the viewer to find the comedy for themselves. The main reason most people will take a look at this is for for it's star. The introduction of him manages to remove the Stifler preconceptions, if slightly forcefully, and allow us to focus on his character without that added baggage. It is good to see that Sean William Scott has a bit more range than OTT comedy and there is no doubt that he is capable of carrying a film like this. 4 stars may appear generous for a film that doesn't deliver anything particularly original, but it is the general sense of fun and enjoyment that you get from this movie that makes it worth that little bit more.
