Quo Immortalised in HD - Rock On !
By a customer from Bangor , 22 Oct 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
Well, if like me, you've seen the Quo many times over the years, this concert will come as a breath of fresh air. For the first time ever, I was actually surprised by some of the songs in the set. Some I've never heard live and others, at least not for a long, long time.
Excellent video and a choice of 3 soundtracks - HD Master thingey (if you have an expensive AV decoder), a traditional Dolby 5.1 for good old fasioned DVD surround sound systems, and a stock 2 channel stereo.
The concert is filmed indoors, which can be problematic for HD, but there are no worries on that score as the lighting is nice and bright and camera work is pretty darn good.
Interestingly, this is also one of the best concerts - technically - I've seen. Excellent vocals all round, and of course instrumentally....well, they could do that asleep couldn't they ?? !!!
A great documentary is also included, where Rick talks about 'sad-stuff', which I'd never heard him talk about before.
Some of the extras a little gimmicky, such as 'Rick Cam' and so on, but they are easily ignored.
The concert and the extended (Biography channel) documentary, is more than enough for 1 blu ray disk, and well worth the money, even if you have 30 CD's and 6 DVDs of the Quo, on your shelves.
I'd like to see a more traditional concert, preferably outdoors, filmed soon. Too many classics (4500 times/Mystery Song/Gerdundula) were missing from this set, as they had to be replaced by 'Hits', so a follow-up HiDef concert is definitely on the cards; well I certainly hope so !
Rock on.

What The Heck Is There Not To Like?!?!?! :-)
By Nosnarc (1 review) from Birmingham , 28 Oct 2010Brilliant from beginning to end. Basically the same show that they've been playing for years now, but with a tweak here and there to keep it interesting. Personally I've like them to play more from the 1986-2009 period, but that's just because I think most of this material stands up very well with the previous 20-odd years. However, what they give us is of top quality and played with all the fun, vigour and professionalism you come to expect from the hardest working band on the planet (aka 'The Number One Rock 'n' Roll Band In The Land').
Caroline, Rain, Living On An Island (brilliant!), Mean Girl Down Down et al . . . Even at their age(s) they still knock the socks off 95% of the competition 100% of the time.
Rock 'n' Roll!!- Was this review helpful to you?
