Nothing Like Donnie Darko!
By Millsey from Hastings , 18 Dec 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
I see alot of reviews comparing Stay with Donnie Darko, but the films are nothing alike, Donnie leaves you scratching your head and thinking did I enjoy that or not?, where Stay (like The Machinist) lets you know what is was all about in the last 10 mins and knowing exactly what you thought of the film. The majority of the film and the acting was great, it was the ending that disappointed me, it had so much more potential to end as cleverly as it began.
My advice is if you want a film that will baffle you but ultimatly not be that hard to understand this is for you, if you prefer a film where its all laid out on a plate and there's no surprises then maybe a Stallone film is more your cup of tea.
Get it, and enjoy!- Was this review helpful to you?

I STAYED with it and Loved It
By ShoutOut (136 reviews) , 28 Mar 2012Intense, dark thriller. Filmed in a very artistic, creative way. The scenes literally submerge into the next scene.
'Stay' reminds me of 'Fight Club' with the psychology of the film; and 'Closing Doors' with the way scenes rewind throughout.
The film I felt created more questions than answers, but then I suppose a good thriller should create uncertainty and questions! Not an important question, but why are Foster's (Ewan McGregor) pants so short?
Ryan Gosling who plays Henry Letham- wow, this guy shines bright like a real star.
'Stay' is a very clever film and if you want all the answers thrown on the plate when you watch a film, stay away.
This film is very stylised and you do need to work hard to understand the film fully; you may even have to watch it twice. But STAY with it you'll be glad you did.- Was this review helpful to you?

A bit weird
By gianino (631 reviews) from London , 11 Mar 2012The plot is a bit messy. The director is trying a bit hard palying with life & death. I can't stand Ewan McGregor but the rest of the cast is superb: Naomi Watts is brilliant, Bob Hoskin is amazing and Ryan Golsing is awesome and sexy as usual so this is the reason why it deserves 3 stars but the plot is too weird, twisted and messy.- Was this review helpful to you?

Pleasantly surprised.
By stiffstix (8 reviews) from London , 14 Jul 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
Got this by choosing in a rush and i am really glad i did!
Very interesting film, loved the way it was edited and although the ending was a little obvious it was FAR superior to the awful Black Swan - which received all the hype!
A real mind twister, definitely worth a try, maybe not a great classic but it has a 'feel' to it that is lacking in many similar videos.- Was this review helpful to you?
