This high-action flight movie centres on a team of three sexy stealth bomber pilots who are forced to fly with EDI (Extreme Deep Invader), a computer-manned prototype plane that specialises in extra-precision bombing. The brainchild of a Bill Gates-esque wunderkind (Richard Roxburgh), EDI has the ability to learn at a fantastic rate, talks like HAL from 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY, and likes to listen to hard rock before going into combat. Before long, a freak accident causes it to question authority and launch an attack on Russia. W.D. Richter's script probes big issues involving man, machine, and the nuclear fate of the free world (Read: DR. STRANGELOVE meets THE TERMINATOR). But this is also an action thrill ride from Rob Cohen the man responsible for THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS and XXX replete with some truly tremendous explosions and speeds that outdo any mph records set in Cohen's past oeuvre. Jessica Biel (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) is tough and surprisingly believable as the token female fighter pilot, while Jamie Foxx (RAY) makes a fine wingman to the daredevil squadron leader played by Josh Lucas. Sam Shephard (THE RIGHT STUFF) is their commanding officer, with Joe Morton playing a shady politician.

...you need a lobotomy to watch this.
Poor, obvious plot, bad dialogue, wooden acting and terrible direction.....and they're the high points. The action shots are full of cheap camera and CGI tricks with an appalling amount of goofs in every scene.
I also lost count of the number of rip-offs this film makes, 'Top Gun' (obviously), 'Flight of the Navigator' (I kept waiting for the EDI to say 'Compliance'), '2001' ('I'm sorry Dave, I can't allow you to do that'), even had the flavour of 'Team America - World Police', but without the humour (Did he say Tajikistan or Durkadurkistan!). I sure you'll come up with your own too.
All in all a truly terrible film. Should've gone straight to DVD and into the bargain bin.
Fly futuristic jets in a movie called Stealth, but excercise no Stealth (as demonstrated that one of the had to fly 'below' the radar field)? Mmmm, puzzling. And they had pulse jet engines, a real technology, plus a plane that looks as though it was based on the Blackbird, which could fly faster than and higher than any other fighter jet. So why did they need to engage the enemy with dogfights, eh? They should have been able to outrun then or just keep climbing and watch the enemy drop out of the sky....
But that doesn't make for dramatic, high action cinema does it? So there you have it, a cliche ridden, unrealistic (not just because it's futuristic) and cheesy action movie. Entertaining enough for a cheap night in but far from a classic.
The problem with mummy movies has traditionally been that mummies aren’t especially scary to anyone over the age of about 11. The current resurrection of this venerable monster was achieved on the back of what were then innovative and eye-popping CGI effects in the 1999 movie and its 2001 sequel. Throw in Brendan Fraser’s genial heroics, plenty of Indiana Jones-inspired action, and charismatic supporting work from the likes of Rachel Weisz and bad guy Arnold Vosloo, and you had... Read more
