    Steaming

This is one of my favourate films for a lazy Sunday afternoon. If you havent seen it you really are missing out - Diana Dors is magnificant, some of it is shockingley honist but its such a grest feel good film.

  • Weighty Feminist Tract

Disappointingly theatrical use of film with a heavily weighted feminist script. Vanessa Redgrave shone through though in this dated and stridently polemic piece.

  • Same dirt, different era

    Rated - 3.5 stars

A delightful social drama that sees a repressed Vanessa Redgrave 'find herself' (after turning up for the fist time) amongst the various other characters that frequent these decrepit Public Baths. But all the ladies overcome their backgrounds and attitudes when they pull together to save 'their' Baths.Talk of people in the area 'who can't afford to heat their own water' makes you wonder when the film is supposed to be set, but the characters are all strong, the acting is good (Sarah Miles) and (incidently) there are no men to be seen in the entire film.
