Most helpful review
Disc One is all you need
By a customer from Shropshire, England , 28 Mar 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
Please don't bother ordering disc 2. It is a 30 minute hagiography of Poliakoff that woul have made him blush. Just stick with watching the actual 'Gideon's Daughter'. This is excellent, incisive and moving.- Was this review helpful to you?

(33)Dissapointing Film
By a customer from Watford , 14 Sep 2010Was expecting more from this film which unfortunately did not deliver the goods. Avoid if I were you. Like watching paint dry.- Was this review helpful to you?

Wouldn't write home about it
By a customer from Winterbourne , 18 Mar 2010I've seen this twice (ordered it forgetting I'd seen it before!) and still am not really sure what the point of it is. Rather dull, slow moving and attempting unsuccessfully to create interest and intrigue into several unrelated people's lives.- Was this review helpful to you?

Seems Pointless But Entertaing Enough
By filmsaremypassion (149 reviews) from Bexhill , 08 Sep 2009Rented this out and watched it last night, basic story is Gideon is a successful public relations counsultant but when he meets a broken up couple who have lost their son and need some help, he starts to wonder about his own daughter's well-being and has second thoughts about his job. It seems pointless and predictable what happens next, it unfolds very quickly and just ends. But it's entertaining enough with some okay pefomances from the cast that will grab your attention. The weakest was Emily Blunt, I thought she was too old to play a moody teenager though she had the sour look on her face and a grumpy temper. Bill Nighly was also weak, he's a good actor but when he said his lines there was no real warmth there and seemed stiff to watch. Robert Lindsey was good as the narrtor of this story, though the shirtless scenes were a bit distasteful for me but he's also a good actor and keeps you paying attention. Miranda Richardson plays her part well, she's a actress that does her roles with a fine art. Tom Hardy was brilliant in his short but noticeable role, dressed up sharpely and very dashing, he's a excellent actor and love watching whatever he does next. I recommend this film if you love politic dramas, it was okay for me but it did seem pointless and probably not a second time round viewing.- Was this review helpful to you?

food for thought
By a customer from Leyburn , 06 Dec 2008Gideon's Daughter had one thinking a bit about relationships and how our working life can be all consuming, to the detriment of many.- Was this review helpful to you?
