pretty boy soldiers
By afterglow (2 reviews) from Brighton , 29 Aug 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
well it starts off great with the conflict scenes gritty, horrific and well shot and acted, but on their return to american life the casting of these pretty boys shows in the lack of serious acting talent needed to show the emotions of these shellshocked soldiers.
But worth watching if you want to see Channing Tatum writhing around in a mud pit in tight pants!- Was this review helpful to you?

(33)Interesting and thought-provoking
By SusieP (127 reviews) from Leeds , 15 Mar 2012A very different take on what it's like to serve in the US forces in the middle east; I had never heard of the US military 'Stop Loss' programme until this film but it really shows what a massive affect this can have on individual soldiers and their families. Good performances all round, particularly Ryan Phillipe. You can't help but empathise with the way he deals with it all after what he's experienced over in Iraq. Considering that young men are still dying for the sake of war it's a sobering thought and really brings it home to you that people's lives are changed forever by these experiences.- Was this review helpful to you?

Real and gritty
By a customer from Bourne , 03 Apr 2010I liked this film for highlighting some of the aspects of war people forget. The after effects are often forgotten by civilians, this film portrayed the psychological effects the war has on the soldiers. The beginning shows some action but the film is mainly a story of the aftermath. It highlights the feeling of the soldiers when they have managed to return alive and have been told they have to go back. All in all a great film and well worth watching, I enjoyed it.- Was this review helpful to you?
