    AWESOME

Lets face it, Street Fighter 2, which ever way you think of it, is all about the fighting, and this movie captures it perfectly. This is nothing like that appaling film with Van Dam, this is animated, so no crappy acting!!

Any game enthusiaste will notice all the right characters are here and they even have all the right signature moves. Brilliant!!

The best fight has to be between Chung Li and Vega, not to be missed!!!!!

If you loved the game you will love this film.

This is an excellent animated film that captures the game Street Fighter perfectly. Makes the live action one look pathetic on every level. If you love Manga or Street Fighter then do check this out

    not what you think

if your are into you computer games come movies you will love this and this is the best version of the story and towers over the live action movie as this one has a story has great action sequences and amazing animation the voice acting is a little lame but all dubbed films at this time where the same but if you can get over all the charaters having broad american accents when they are ment to be indian or japenese then it is very enjoyble but it rember it is rated 15 for a reason due to violent content and chun li naked

Street Fighter 2 - The Movie

I love this game so was drawn to see this film, especially since hearing (from adults) that anime and manga are 'good'. Now, I appreciate the difficulties making a film of this kind: it has at least 12 characters and because they are each evenly balanced for game-playing enjoyment, each is likely to have legions of fans; this makes it especially difficult to weave a credible story that includes them all - and in this the film-makers have failed dismally. The film centers upon Ryu, Ken, Guile, and Chun Li (admittedly very popular player choices), with M. Bison, Vega, and Sagat respectively significant. All other characters, which include the SF2 special edition fighters e.g. Cammi and D-Jay, are peripheral at best and if, like me, you want to learn more about the mysterious Blanka, you might as well give the film a miss entirely.

They've also occasionally made the worst mistake possible with an adaptation of this kind - made alterations to the characters; while the occurrences of this are few (with the exception of Bison), it's unnecessary and detracts from the believability e.g. if Dalsim is shown in the film having a special fighting move he doesn't have in the game, this raises questions; the game rose above all others in part on the strength of the lovingly-crafted characters, which caused countless fans to 'believe' them to the extent of fantasizing about what their 'real' lives would be like. Thus the film should work to satisfy those fantasies but it undermines itself whenever it doesn't remain true to the characters.

The storyline is okay - one can hardly be too critical given the difficulties mentioned - but it does lack sophistication; the strong language and nudity imply that the director wants the material to be taken seriously but the action is, in all other respects, as much like a child’s cartoon as it could be e.g. a character is reluctant to fight and takes blow after blow before finally retaliating when really the blows would be blocked (as they can be in the game). The themes, such as the value of friendship, are also the staple fare of films aimed at children. Thus the bad language feels unnecessary and the obviously sexy scenes standout as nerdish wish-fulfillment equally out of place; the film undermines any sense of integrity it might have had by blurring *children’s* cartoon signifiers with adult elements.

I understand the film spans 2 discs; if *not*, then SF2 - The Movie also has terrible storytelling shortcomings e.g. it isn’t typical to imply - in a perfunctory fashion no less - that a major character has died and then not mention them again. I can only hope that there *is* a second disc or I’ll be very disappointed.

The heavy-metal soundtrack was cliché and completely unlike the likeable upbeat tunes that accompanied the game.

Good points were the use of bright colours familiar to the game and the faithful rendition of the characters themselves.

Probable the best computer game to film I have seen

I have never been a fan of computer games made into films but this was a refreshing change.

Nothing like the movie with van dam? this has a gripping storyline.. amazing fight scenes and a very cool sound track.

Animation also has amazing attention to detail.

Shame the alpha that came after completly lost the plot..

    Manga classic

This is a manga classic, has everything you need, a good animation, great action scenes and best of all a storyline. This is nothing like the movie (the one with Van Dam), have an open mind and rent this, it’s a good watch.
