Excellent game....let down by PSP
By a customer from Kent, England , 23 Mar 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
Steetfigher alpha 3 max is one of the first great beat em ups to appear on the PSP. The graphics and sound are top notch as you would expect from a Capcom release. The speed at which the game plays is very fast and smooth. Loading times which can be long on some PSP games are quick and dont interfere with the action.
The character graphics are clear bright and move around the screen very smoothly, backgrounds are fully animated and colourful. The sound effects and music are top notch with all the characters trademark cries and taunts included.
The amount of characters in the game is huge, with a load more that can be unlocked.
There are also tons of different game styles from arcade to survival. Multiplayer fights are catered from via wireless, but there is no online mode which would have been welcome.
If there was a downside to the game it would have to be the PSPs control pad. The game requires lots of d-pad and button combinations, but the PSPs D-pad is not up to the task and pulling off some of these moves is a bit hit or miss. In Japan the game was released with adaptor which fitted over the d-pad and this would have been great if it had been released over here.
Overall this is a very good fighter, but is let down by the PSPs poor d-pad in the end.- Was this review helpful to you?
