The immensely popular STREET FIGHTER series, probably best known for its appearance on gaming consoles, has also become a first rate anime. Here, Ryu and Ken find themselves unhappily reunited as they meet up after the death of their master. Ryu's life is turned upside down even more when Shun, a boy claiming to be his long .. Read more

OK - I'm going to go ahead and put my neck out - this film is fantastic! It also should be considered as an alternative film to SF2 the anime - as far as I know, they're two different stories and capcom had a hand in this which should tell you something. It also brings on akuma and evil ryu which is worth the rental on its own! If you get this out with an open mind and not expecting a sequel (and ideally having player the SFA games - completely different storylines to the original), I genuinely think you will enjoy it and if you do, write it here! It seems to be getting really badly represented!
Nothing like the origional Streetfighter anime, this is totally confusing and seems to follow no real story at all, avoid unless your a completest
I'll lead with a quote from the description above: 'The immensely popular STREET FIGHTER series, probably best known for its appearance on gaming consoles, has also become a first rate anime'
However, this film is NOT the first rate anime. This is a poorly animated, badly scripted complete waste of time. Consider it a 90 minute advert for the game, as then you won't be quite as disappointed. About the only entertainment you'll get from this is trying to spot all the cameos by other characters from the game.
Compared to the original Street Fighter 2 : Animated Movie, this film is GOD AWFUL. To show you how bad it is, I would say the complete stinkfest starring John-Claude Van-Damme and Kylie is actually a 4 star film by comparison.

its just not as good as street fighter 2.
the animation was ok, but in manga i expect better.
the story just didnt grab me and in a way thought it was pretty lame, probably because im a street fighter fan.

Ok, so it's not perfect and there is little to no continuity from the the original movie- but suspend your expectations resulting from the original and just enjoy it as a film in its own right. If you do that then you get an alright manga film- certainly ryu's struggle against the dark hado, and the inclusion of Akuma (though i'd have preferred him to have played a greater part in the story) make this film worth watching, the story isn't complex and the dialogue, in places, not great- but then the same can be said of plenty of mangas, it's still an enjoyable action movie. The animation lets it down slightly, but maybe that's just because of comparisons with the original. Definately worth a try if you've exhausted all the truly great mangas (Ninja Scroll, Akira etc.)
This film is liked a hell of a lot more out in japan than it is here, and ill be straight forward, fights were terrible, music was terrible and story was terrible, oh and the huge build up to akuma and the only time you see him is in the credits just standing there
CAUTION: Only watch this film if you are intoxicated or are suffering a severe head trauma,(It might make more sense). Other than that, LEAVE ALONE.
What a let down! Very, very boring, nowhere near as good as the original. Animation looks too simplified and way too many cheesy 'kiddie humour' moments. Messy storyline, don't waste your time by considering to rent it, stear clear!
The film was ok. The story line was ok.
Tis film isn't that bad I just had no clue what was going on, and its not because I failed to pay attention. The biggest failing in this film, though is for a film based on beat 'em up game there wasn't nearly enough fighting. What fighting there is shown is too stylised to appreciate.
