  • Rich and gripping stop frame animation

Yes, this is indeed a work of art. It is clearly influenced by and after Jan Svankmajor the major Czech animator who's mastery of stop frame has effected so many film makers over the years and is still doing so. I think The quay brothers are vastly underrated and perhaps like many visual artworks they sometimes need to be unpacked a little before an uninitiated audience can get the best out of it. It would be a great service if there was a 15 minute talk about this kind of work and how to read some of the meaning and iconography embedded in this lovely and sometimes disturbing little film. So if you do not get it first time around, please give it another try later and allow your self to be drawn in. I do not normally write reviews so I hope this was of help.

  • A film for the pretentious

Very artsy and very very dull. I can understand the work that may have gone into this short film. Never the less I've really got nothing else I can say about it.

This film must be watched with you brain totally switched OFF. You could spend some very long time trying to analyse it,don't try. You might find after watching it for the tenth time that some parts make sense but then again maybe they won't. Just enjoy the overpowering visual delight,I did and will again. Eye Candy from a different perspective.

Wierdly gripping. The imagery is very arty, with dark symbolism which I didn't get, but with the music, and strangely balletic dancing dolls,I found it very clever. Definitely enjoyable.

Wierd...couldn't understand what it was about but to be fair kept me watching. However it is definitely not 'PG' I think too creepy for kids.

I think people are slating this too much because they're expecting something else from the synopsis. It is creepy and yes bizarre. It isn't a waste of 20 minutes of your life, just be aware it is artistic and European and that should put your expectations at the right kind of level. If you don't like that kind of thing then give it a miss.
