Stylishly made character study with melodramatic leanings, rather self-conscious about its risky subject but, scene by scene, both adult and absorbing, with an overpowering mass of sociological detail about the way we live.

more brilliant stuff from the idiosyncratic Schlesinger- it won't disappoint the discerning viewer. Great London nostalgia trip, too. Enjoy it.

Just didn't get this one-incredibly dated and at times very weird. A shame as loved Finch in Network but not this!

Watch it for Peter Finch & Glenda Jackson.
