  • Excellent Hollywood Expose

Wilder directs a fantastic film about the evils of Hollywood. Holden, Swanson and Olsen give iconic performances. The film displays the way Hollywood can shine in the heat of the glory one minute but once the spotlights dim, how you can be left in the cold. The script is sharp and witty with plenty of classic lines that are often repeated. The disc comes with excellent extras which include three good documentaries detailing the making, costumes and music. If your a fan of this film, the extas alone make this one to rent. If you have never seen this film, I suggest you see this and enjoy.

  • Good but not amazing!

I can understand why it's a classic, it's a very novel idea for a film. However I think, for me, it just doesn't tick all the right boxes. Something missing that I couldn't put my finger on. It is good though but for me just not 'great'.

  • A REAL "TURKEY"

Fifty or sixty years ago some real masterpieces were brought to the silver screen and will last forever. Sadly 'Sunset Boulevard' is not one of them! Gloria Swanson and William Holden are wooden, the script is as boring as the story and hopefully the movie is put into Room 101

  • Essential Viewing.

I'd long been aware of this film and its status among classic films but never caught it in its entirely. Now I have and I am pleased. It is a wonderful piece. More complex than the critic's review might suggest it is nevertheless essentially a black comedy about the insanity of tinseltown.

  • Absolute Perfection

Flawless. The tactic of casting leads to play parodies of themselves works brilliantly. The start of the film tells you how it is going to end but this does not detract from the suspense. The cast are all perfect. Watch out for Buster Keaton! If you want to see a film about a fallen silent movie star don't go to watch 'The Artist' (worthy as this is) rent 'Sunset Boulevard' from Love Film instead.

  • Good at the beginning, then - snooooze

It starts off pretty good, but it kinda gets saggy in the middle. I didn't make it all the way to the end. Maybe I'll rent the DVD again in the future and watch it all the way through. More likely though, that I'm just going to let this one slide.

    I can't recommend this.
