[Highly rated reviewer]This film comedy drama is superb and stars Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin.
Former high school cheerleading captain Rose Lorkowski (played by Amy Adams) is a thirty-something single mother who cleans houses for a living.
Wanting to send her trouble-making 8 year old son Oscar (played by Jason Spevack) to a private school, Rose decides to take her married lover's advice and get into the 'lucrative' business of crime scene cleanup.
Rose convinces her disillusioned, underachieving sister Norah (played by Emily Blunt) to join her in the enterprise, which she calls 'Sunshine Cleaning.'
Norah stills lives at home with their dad Joe(played by Alan Arkin) a salesman with a lifelong history of ill-fated get rich quick schemes.
The sisters begin to find meaning in their function to 'help' in some way in the aftermath of a loss, just as the job stirs up memories of their own mother's death.
Their priorities and goals are tested and Rose and Norah face hard challenges as they strive to improve their lives.
Well worth watching !

Very refreshingBy sdfilm (125 reviews) from Oxon , 08 Dec 2011This is really good. I had never even heard of it before, but I am really glad I added it to my rental list. It is very different and a story that has never been touched on before. You really feel for the characters involved and want them to succeed. The acting is great. I would recommend this one.
Could have been betterBy a customer , 18 Sep 2011This just about made it as a movie as the storyline appeared to be headed for oblivion at the outset ... and that is exactly what it did! If it wasn't for the acting ability of Amy Adams I think that I would be rating 'Sunshine Cleaning' 2½ star or below. Quite frankly, it seemed to me at times, that Amy Adams was carryng the rest of the cast which struggled as a unit to produce the humerous situations that the story demanded. Sorry, I'm afraid that I can't see me recommending this movie to anyone.
Worthy sequel .By a customer , 29 Aug 2011This was on my 'list' for a while. Not disappointed, kept me amused, in fact I was sorry when it ended. Maybe hoped for more storyline around the' cleaning' aspects of the story.. more black huomur to be had there that was missed.Considering the skill I know the producers have in this area from 'Little Miss Sunshine', which I found a little funnier and more pathos. I love the heroes being so everyday and not 'pretty and monied'.
