Stolid dialogue and poor technicalities are evident throughout what will surely be the last of the series.
I rented this title for my children, after last seeing it as a kid...I remember it being crap then, but after viewing as an adult I found it painful to watch!
Both my children enjoy the first three superman films and the new one as do I. So I thought I would rewatch the fourth one with them to complete the series...
This film is like a B movie compared to the first three..Infact it all started going downhill after superman 2 I think.
This film should have never been made. The storyline is one great big jumbled mess. The flying sequences and special effects are laughable. Even the acting is sub standard. Its like the actors knew it was rubbish and couldnt be bothered to act!.....What were they thinking even making this!!...Avoid like the plague!!
In response to Huw form Swansea, yes it would be very interesting to see an extended version, as Superman IV was meant to be much much longer, and it was heavily edited. Apparently it was meant to be worse that it already is, but since no one saw it, I cannot judge. I am a fond admirer or the late Christopher Reeve and Superman, and he did agreed to do this movie at the only condition he would write the script. I guess he was a better actor than a scriptwriter. Having said that, it is great fun and Margot Kidder is as, always, a joy to watch.
