(17)A few pointers
By oldboy (8 reviews) from Northern Ireland , 17 May 2010Just to be clear this game does not try to be like C&C for those people who said it does. This is the spritual successor to Total Annilation (TA) which was a 1997 PC hit. While this game falls short of it's parent it is still not a bad game.
The premise of TA was to create a game of full scale war. Other games like C&C are mainly played out through skirmishes here and there in the battlefield where as in TA it was full scale war all the time where factories would spit out a tank every 3 seconds and so with 10 factories that was 200 tanks a minute. This game, supreme commander, tries to be like TA and not like C&C but it's shortcomings result in it actually being more like C&C despite its best eforts to mimic TA.
Trying to recreate TA on the xbox is where this game fails. For having limited controls on the 360 many of TA's great features had to be lost, the result is losing the fluidity of the game. That said however I appreciate the effort it has made to overcome the simplistic strategy games of the past on the 360 like Tiberian Sun and Halo wars which were fun but hugely limited and so the got boring quickly.
Despite its flaws, Supreme Commander takes stragety games in a different direction and although it is hard to see the true potential of the game i am convinced that the next installment of this game will be much more fluid and user friendly...... I wait patiently.- Was this review helpful to you?

Supreme Commander?
By EvilAngel (1 review) from Grimsby , 06 Jul 2009Controls like it the interface was designed by a incredibly slow half blind child and on top of that they somehow managed to cause graphical slow down. I played the tutorial and about half the first mission before the urge to 'rage quit' became to strong. It is so bad I'm tempted to destroy it to save others from it but I will resist. Overall I would say its in my top 5 most hated games and by far the worst 'RTS' I've ever played. Avoid.
