I've not seen this series since watching it as a kid when it was first aired in the 70's. My most vivid memory of it been the title sequence were the scientist drops the globe containing the virus and its subsequent spread around the world.
I remember it was a must see for me at the time though looking at it now it seems oddly edited, leaving certain events and characters completely up in the air with the final episode not wrapping things up very satisfactorily - perhaps they thought they might make another series!
Its was also amusing to see that they had to spend all there time getting grubby in the countryside when lets face if such a thing were to happen would you? since even the world of the 70s would have more then enough petrol in abandoned cars and so forth plus pre - packaged or tinned food to keep you going for a very long time indeed.
However filming a world gone away aka in the style of London in the opening part of 28 Days Later is not an easy thing to do! Nevertheless the series still has something to say about the nature of society and how we order ourselves as well as posing the question about how youd cope if that was taken away.
