Wow! OK, so its not ...
By Dale#1 from TAMWORTH , 13 Feb 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Wow! OK, so its not quite as action-laden as the cover would have you believe but neither is it as slow going as fellow truck flick 'Wages Of Fear' (a cracking movie in its own right).
This is an undiscovered oasis of a movie in the straight-to-DVD desert. Like a crazed offspring of 'Mad Max' and 'Ice Cold In Alex' SWEAT is a beautifully photographed road movie with razor-sharp editing, atmospheric sound and an on-form Jean-Hugues Anglade (Betty Blue, Killing Zoe).
OK so its not going to win any Oscars, but if you enjoy the Gallic humour of movies like Taxi I'm sure you find something to enjoy here.- Was this review helpful to you?

By a customer from London , 27 Jan 2009Very, very dry - more Merlot than Syrah, Sauvignon than Chardonnay?
I was left half expecting a sequel by the last scene as there is potential for the three or four unanswered questions.
All the main characters get what they deserve (Anglo Saxon style propriety perhaps).
It had wit, tension, tremendous tease and a lot of perspiration.
I doubt that the masses would have enjoyed it but I don't think it was aimed at them. The ever changing relationships add to the spectacle - definitely not to be taken seriously.- Was this review helpful to you?

By zzzzzz (112 reviews) from at home , 14 Jun 2005Gang of crooks steal lots of gold and transport it by lorry across the desert.
Strange French road/chase movie mainly set in the Moroccan desert. All the characters are amoral & odd. Nice to look at (very stylish} in French or English.- Was this review helpful to you?

The desert never looked so good.
By FILMNUT1 from Kent , 08 Dec 2004From the opening shot, this is a film which focuses intently on its cinematography. The desert, a few locations and a handful of actors is all we have here. Yet the cinematographer is constantly keeping us engaged as the weak narrative unfolds.
There is very little story. A post-heist movie, wherein there are inevitable double-crosses and deaths. Punctuated with action sequences, I can only classify this as an action film on that basis. There is no characterisation even attempted. We don't like any of these guys. This film is a testament only to visual inventiveness. There are also two distinct edits of the film. The second is dubbed into English by the original cast with a new credits sequence.
Clearly a film with aspirations. If you like the way this film looks, check out 'Belly' (a film which suffers from being too complex).- Was this review helpful to you?
