Gritty no-nonsense boys-own shennanigans. Stands up against anything before or since. Fantastic!
If you loved the programme you will love this step back in time. Thaw plays a DI in London's Flying Squad in the late 70's and although not corrupt plays it close to the wire. This was the first series I remember the villains actually getting away with it now and then. Two films on this disc that look dated but that just doesn't matter. Punch ups, car chases, proper villains and coppers that like to mix it a bit. Classic stuff.
The films are great shame about the title music, not realy assoc with the sweeney.
excellent john thaw and dennis waterman at their best.
It shows why so many people stayed in on a Saturday night.
P.S. I wasn't one of them however, so it gave me the chance to see what I missed.
A little more umph than the series.

Brilliant old style 'plod' film, just how things used to be in the old days, and how they should still be!! No 'PC' brigade around then.

This was a great double bill of the Sweeney with John Thaw and Dennis Waterman at there best. Both movies had some great thumping action and as ever some top car chases, and lots of fighting. Whatch it or misss out
If you are a Sweeney fan then you'd like this, but i found it dull
Fab! Really dont think any more words are needed
One of the best cop series ever made.
