the best sweeny todd production ever madeBy cheesekake (1501 reviews) from uk , 02 Jun 2012the story has been told many many times over and over in 'hollywood' but this is definitely the best version there is.
it tells the story straight, no silly singing, no silly extra bits added in for good dramatisation, just straight brilliant acting off winston, and all round brilliant production
A barber with personal demonsBy a customer from Hertfordshire , 08 May 2012There's not much you can do with this story, because it's known so well - demon barber slits throats, victims make a short journey into meat pies.
But when did Ray Winstone ever let a thin story bother him? Fabulous characterisation carries this tale through in glory as all our empathies are on the barber's side. In the end we are rooting only for Ray.
A good, low-key watch.
Good, better than I expected...By SiSlayRD500 (166 reviews) from Solihull , 27 Nov 2011As the title says, I thought this was good and better than I expected.
In a way a sad story, but any sympathy soon gives way due to his (Sweeny Todd) actions!
Ray Winstone is brilliant as nearly always, but so is Essie Davis who's character Todd initially helps, befriends and then - without giving anything away - this builds into a special friendship!
Overall a well worthy watch and I feel easily deserves the 3 and a 1/2 stars (good) I've given it.
