Once again Fred and Ginger excell in this marvelous musical from 1936. This was the second film that they released this year, the other one being Follow the Fleet. The comedy is top notch from the surporting artists Victor Moore and Helen Broaderick and a nice camero by British actor Eric Blore. With a musical score composed by Jerome Kern, featuring the songs, 'Pick Yourself Up', 'The Way You Look Tonight' and 'A Fine Romance', this film is a classic in every way.

  • Timeless Astaire and Rogers

If anything epitomises Hollywood's 'golden age', it is the legendary series of films made by Astaire and Rogers at RKO in the 30s. 'Swing Time' is up there with their very best work, so that means GOOD, in big letters! Don't bother about the plot, because there isn't much of a one to speak of, just the usual Fred and Ginger get off on the wrong foot, dance, fall in love shenanigans. But then when you've got a film packed with so much fun, fizz, and sheer style, who gives a monkey's? Astaire and Rogers were both gifted screen comedians, and they get plenty of opportunities to display this facet of their talents in the film, backed up by the sterling efforts of the likes of Eric Blore and Helen Broderick. But of course, it's the songs and dance routines that really count, and Kern and Fields provide the perfect platform with classics such as 'Start All Over Again', 'A Fine Romance' and the sublime 'The Way You Look Tonight'. Vintage now in terms of age, but timeless in its elegance, artistry and appeal. Just sit back with your glass of wine, and wonder as Fred and Ginger sing and dance up a storm. In a word, magic.
