The massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics is the starting point for this TV action movie from director Michael Anderson (Logan's Run, The Quiller Memorandum). Steven Bauer is the commando, assigned to head an anti-terrorist squad to avenge the murders, and the strong supporting cast includes Michael York as an explosives expert and Colleen Dewhurst as prime minister Golda Meir. As entertainment it works well, though inevitably it will leave audiences divided on the morality of these revenge killings.
The movie was too long and quite slow moving, but very suspensful, so it will keep you watching till the end.
Basically how an israeli mission gets botched up.
Enjoyable and thought provoking film.
Stephen Bauer utterly convincing in the title role.
the film 'Munich' also focused on the aftermath of the killings of the Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympic games - that film was not as raw.
