The old adage in movie making is never more relevant than in this superb action thriller. From the very start, where we meet the charismatic John Travolta, to the closing credits, there is no let up. The plot is intelligent without being too smart for its own good, the special effects are original and stunning and the central performances(even Vinnie Jones) are convincing. The term 'edge of your seat drama' is hardly adequate to describe this film. My only criticism is that Hugh Jackman is just too handsome to live!

Great to see the (so called) bad guy win for a change. Of course theres a large fantasy element to the story but who cares.

Good movie, one of the best first 5 mins of a film that you will see! Even if you don't watch the whole film watch the first five minutes and then make your decision! Pay attention, don't blink and... enjoy!

  • Low brow action, certainly watchable

Swordfish is watchable enough with some spectacularly explosive scenes and unexpected twists and turns. In fact I did own the film on DVD at one time, my reason for parting with it was the cringe inducing lines dished out by Vinnie Jones, his menace remains best when it is kept silent, otherwise it is just embarrassing.

Hugh Jackman is hardly convincing as a computer geek and Halle Berry isn't really my favourite actress but Don Cheadle and John Travolta both enjoy their roles immensely and really make the film what it is - watchable nonsense!

This belongs to a stream of other Hollywood films producing the same kind of trash. If it wasn't for the Halle Berry scenes, no one would have bothered. Its a shame that sex sells so cheaply. Travolta seems to be pushing out bad film one after the other. His character is almost identical to the recent train hostage film with Denzel Washington 'the taking of Pelham 123'. Do people really see this kind of character as slick or cool?? The film starts with potential but it keeps dipping all the way. By the time you get to the Bus Scene and Helicoptor, it's total junk. 'the Rock' and 'Die Hard' type films all did this sort of stuff but much better. Tavolta is just not watchable.
