Star John Travolta revisits the grinning villain territory he explored in BROKEN ARROW and FACE/OFF with this stylish, supercharged techno-thriller. He plays Gabriel, a charismatic, fast-living mystery man who, with help from his right-hand woman, Ginger (Halle Berry), recruits ex-con and former master hacker Stan (Hugh Jackman).. Read more

This is the film for which female lead Halle Berry was reportedly offered an extra $500,000 (on top of her $2 million fee) to bare her breasts. Well, she does, and it's all over very quickly, and if anyone is tempted to watch for that reason alone, more fool them. Swordfish is a glossy, expensive computer-heist thriller that amounts to very little behind all the fireworks. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the film, as it gives away the ending and shows part of what industry types call the “money shot” — a technically brilliant 360-degree explosion that will act as director Dominic Sena's calling card. He's so proud of it, in fact, he gives it to us twice, such is the superficial nature of this film. The only real saving grace is Hugh Jackman's performance as the cool super-hacker hired by counter-terrorist John Travolta to help steal $9.5 billion. Travolta is always watchable — and gets the best speech (about the film Dog Day Afternoon) from Skip Woods's Tarantino-indebted script — but you can't help thinking this is the least anyone could do with an $80-million budget: a heist, some hostages, a lot of flashy, unrealistic computer hacking, and an actress in her underwear.

    Start with an earthquake...

The old adage in movie making is never more relevant than in this superb action thriller. From the very start, where we meet the charismatic John Travolta, to the closing credits, there is no let up. The plot is intelligent without being too smart for its own good, the special effects are original and stunning and the central performances(even Vinnie Jones) are convincing. The term 'edge of your seat drama' is hardly adequate to describe this film. My only criticism is that Hugh Jackman is just too handsome to live!

Did I watch a different film....?

I simply cannot believe the rave reviews this film has received. It is absolute rubbish!

The lead man is so forgettable I can't even remember his real name. His acting makes Hugh Grant look a RSC veteran.

Cliche is heaped upon cliche: the nasty ex-wife who won't let his daughter see him, Hale Berry in the most gratuitous t*t shots, etc.

And some of the most ridiculous scenes:- running down the cliff (utterly pointless); leading blokey doing his little dance routines when cracking the code (just plain embarassing- and when do computers EVER look like that? He sure ain't using Win XP!); THE ENDING!!!...when we got that ridiculous little flashback of John Travolta going DOWN the stairs...what kind of lazy, weak writing is that?

All this film did was put me in a really foul mood. Don't let it spoil YOUR night!

    An action packed great movie

This film has an all star cast, with great acting and a good story.

This film should have been a huge hit, but unfortunately it was released whilst terrorist attacks were big news.

This is a gem of a film and i recommend that you all watch it.

    Good Film, Great Cast!

Good film with a Great Cast.

Don't just watch this movie for the chance to see Halle Berry topless because it is very disappointing and over in a split second! - Not bad for the $500,000 she recieved on top of her $2million!

Travolta plays a fantastic part as the Bad Guy/Good Guy!

Great plot with twists and turns!

    Strong Cast, Average Movie

An action movie based around the premise of hacking. Which gives ample opportunity for the cast to spout rubbish about mainframes, worms and bytes, while you scratch your head wondering what the hell they are on about. Behind this, lies an average action movie which never quite delivers but the cast is strong and the film is ultimately enjoyable. An interesting plot and premise though.

This is one of my favourite films! Its diffently a "man" Film, but the opening has to be the best! I wont spoil it, but the Camera movements, SFX and the sound makes The best Explosion scene every. JT is good as the "bad guy"!

    Swordfish

The best thing about this film is the soundtrack which complements John Travolta's speech in the opening scenes so beautifully.

Halle Berry is as stunning as ever and pulls off the whole is-she-a-goodie-isn't-she role rather well.

Hugh Jackson's on-screen chemistry with Halle is electric but the fact he has a daughter gives the film a more urgency and more of an edge and you can almost feel his desperation.....

    Fishy Tale?

A great rock and roller coaster ride of a movie.

Hugh Jackman plays the part of an ex computer hacker who has got caught and was put if prison. Now released he hopes of a quiet life greasing oil rigs in the desert.

Halle Berry comes along and offers him alot of money 'just' to meet someone, before he knows it Hugh's character is way over his head in a crime fuelled hi-tech criminal underworld.

Great effects and great performances by the whole cast. Travolta has another good time out playing another baddie.

If your a PC techie, then this is the most realistic film involving computers that you are likely to see come out of Hollywood, but still remains technically challenged.

Rent it if you like a good action movie.

One of my favourites, watched it about 5 times now.

    A superb action packed film!

If you have ever seen the film 'hackers' with Angelina Jolie, you will already know the basic idea of the film, which could be viewed as a really updated version. However, unlike other similar titles as mentioned above.

This film has a very big cast, featuring the likes of Hugh Jackman, John Travolta and Halie Berry. The storyline follows Hugh Jackman as a wached up computer hacker trying to get his life back together and win custody of his daughter from his strange ex-wife.

John Travolta plays the main villain and forces High Jackmans character to hack into some major bank accounts, or face loosing both his life and his daughters.Great stunts, good action sequences and a great plot that leaves you with lots to think about at the end.

Well recommended and will most likely appeal to almost anyone with an interest in action packed films, web design, graphics, computers and big budget box office hits.
