(78)Cowabunga, Dudes!
By PedroB (15 reviews) , 20 Apr 2012Unassuming, fun and easy to watch, 2007's TMNT is the archetype of a movie that gets more flak than it deserves. Most of this flak comes, of course, from disgruntled fanboys lamenting the lack of Shredder or April O'Neil's trademark yellow jumpsuit (although she does don a yellow ninja suit, a la Uma Thurman on Kill Bill). However, if you can get past these deviations from canon - and the meh supernatural plot - you will get to have fun with this incarnation of the Turtles.
Taking place after the original show and live action movies' continuity, this film catches up with the Turtles as they go through the pains of growing up (some of them even have jobs!) This contributes to the movie's reputation of being exceedingly 'emo', as the foursome often engage in heated verbal confrontations in order to sort out their issues.
And here is where the movie's main flaw kicks in: as they sit around bickering, the Turtles leave somebody else (Casey Jones, April O'Neil, even the FOOT CLAN!) to do the hard work. And while they do step up towards the end, their claims that they 'do all the hard work and [Casey] gets all the thank you's' seems hardly justified. Uh, guys? In case you didn't notice, he did way more than you!
Another gripe - at least for this reviewer - is the fact that the two best Turtles are given precious little screen time. The movie chooses to focus on Leonardo and Raphael's estranged relationship, and ignores the goldmine that is Mikey. Furthermore, Donatello comes across as prissy to the point of being effeminate - something he never was in any of his other incarnations.
In the end, however, this does not detract from what is essentially a fun little flick. In a world where TMNT 3: Turtles in Time exists, and Michael Bay's alien-reboot abomination is about to exist, this film should be the least of the fanboys' worries. Cowabunga, dudes!- Was this review helpful to you?

TMNT - The best action flick in years!
By BiometricStu (1 review) , 07 Apr 2012Great Movie!! I must admit that i wasn't expecting much from this as I was just filling some time but I was surprised how much fun it is to watch, not an oscar winner...much more entertaining than that with a great voice cast, amazing CGI animation and it works because it was shot in the style of a big budget action flick with the punchy and dramatic soundtrack and clever framing. Most importantl, this movie has heart in that you actually care about the characters. Have ordered on Blu-ray :0)- Was this review helpful to you?

TMNT Review
By Likkawtch (1 review) , 01 Jun 2011I watched this movie with my son and we both loved it! I have always been a fan as a kid and it was great to share this with my child.
The animation surpassed all of my expectations and I actually liked the plot very much. This movie shows morals and has a very good message, not to mention it had a few comedy moments as well.
I actually liked this movie more than the other TNMT titles and feel that the modern twist made it better than the originals. If you are a fan, you will love this, if not then you should enjoy it all the same.- Was this review helpful to you?
