It's a sobering thought. The first independent movie to gross $100 million wasn't Pulp Fiction or sex, lies and videotape, it was a comic book spin-off featuring men in turtle-suits scrapping read more »
having grown up watching the cartoons i thought i would see if the movie would live up to my childhood expectations. it did in every way the characters are how i remembered them exactly and raphiel still remains my favourite. the film has everything a good film needs, i loved it such much that im going to see it again along with friends how also so the weekend pre-release with me!
My eldest played this and said it was worth 4 stars. Why it was 4 stars I can not say
I own a 'teenage mutant ninja turtles' mug which I bought back when they first hit old blighty (was it the late 80s or early 90s? ah well).
I would rather sit and watch that mug for an hour and a half than sit and watch that DVD again.
good film, would have been better if it wasnt all cgi.
thats all folks.

I remember watching the TMNT TV series, which was brilliant, alas what worked then does not work very well in this movie.
I think if the movie makers were aiming it at the kids who used to watch the series, which is what i think most viewers of this film probably did as well as the odd newbie, then they should realise that we are not kids anymore and need something a bit more substantial, not the same old stuff that used to be in the tv series because those stunts and fights that wooed and wowed us back then just dont cut it now. Especially as other films, namely the transformers used special effects to a much greater use.
There is nothing great about this film and the 4 turtles are really rather dissapointing as they fight with each other through most of it. And what is going on with that rat of a father, he should have been left out of it, his 'performance' was painful to watch.
Rather than keeping this film as a cartoon, it would have been much better making it real life, which would have given it more sustainability.
Give this film a miss and just remember the TMNT as great as they were back when you were a kid, this film will just ruin the dream.
About time they made a new film! And what a film it is too. The animation is pure genius - no longer do animation films like this feel like simple cartoons. There is such depth to the visuals as the Turtles zoom through the city, it just looks amazing. There is loads of action, ninja fight scenes, awesome character design, superb voice acting, even great moments of drama. And it's funny at times too. This film has it all. I can't rate it enough. The new cartoons are great, and this is a big step up from them. Brilliant. Can't wait for a sequel.

I'm so relieved that the makers didn't follow the stupid and rubbish live action version of the previous films.
This CGI version works 100% better and shows the love and knowledge of the comics by the filmakers. This wasn't made by someone who didn't know what he/she was making.
If you love the comics you won't be disappointed in this.
Why was this a movie and not a special Saturday morning cartoon?
I watched the trailers for this and was expecting something close to comic books in style and content.
This is just what I got, it less of a kiddie movie (despite the animation) and more adult. Despite all of this I must confess that I only sat through it to see what the ending was. None of the subplots or action sequences got me going, it just lacked sparkle
I am not sure I would recommend this other than as a filler.
I really enjoyed this - the CG animation was excellent, fluid and life-like and the story zipped along at a cracking pace (with enough pathos, depth, action, drama and knowing-wit to keep even us 43 year-olds entertained!). And you get 13 monsters for your money's worth! If you're tired with the usual Disney/Pixar-type output (Cars, Flushed Away, etc.....yawn) then give this a go - it really is worth a watch. Recommended.
