Dull thriller, with Pierce Brosnan as a tough-guy debt collector confronting unscrupulous developers who want to build a chemical plant in a quiet Irish town. Brosnan's watchable, but displays little of the charisma that he'd bring years later to Bond. But, back in 1988, he was still essentially a TV star, and hadn't yet learned to project his persona for the cinema screen. A rock-solid support cast includes Patrick Bergin, Alison Doody and Ray McAnally.

    Good craic

Enjoyably silly and amusingly dated 80s drama, more like a TV show from that time. Brosnan hams it up as Mark Taffin, an ex-seminarian, philosopher, intellectual, hardman debt-collector trying to prevent a chemical plant being built in his idyllic seaside Irish town. Lots of Irish scenery and Irish music and Irish actors (look out for Dermot Morgan and Frank Kelly form 'Father Ted'), big hair, big cars and a mobile phone the size of a brick.
