Based on a true story, this TV movie explores similar territory to François Truffaut's The Wild Child and Werner Herzog's The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser. However, for all his sincerity, Artie Mandelberg isn't in the same league and his story lacks both cinematic imagination and emotional insight. Returning to his mother Park Overall after five years living on the hoof with the father who abducted him, Seth Adkins has none of the social or educational skills expected of a 10-year-old. His explosive personality makes his rehabilitation all the more problematic. The leads give it their all, but they're never entirely convincing.

    what a thought provoking film

If you want to wake up to what some poor kids have to go through at the hands of their parents then this is the film for you, for those who dont want to know what really goes on behind closed doors then dont watch this one. the film was well acted and showed a powerful and emotive subject with dignity.
