I have read the book and after seeing the first few reviews for this film I was expecting to be disappointed, however, I really enjoyed it. All the necessary plot lines to drive the story were there and I warmed to both the main characters. The film should be viewed as an added extra to the book and not a page by page re-enactment. I definitely noticed Maeve Binchy playing a diner in the restaurant scene as someone else previously mentioned.
