Can't wait until I am able to buy it!
By lalune from West Yorkshire , 08 Nov 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
I saw the premier at the Edinburgh Film festival and oh I thought it was marvellous. Despite the pathos I laughed all the way through. This is what I want to aspire to when I get old!
Right from the start you know Tatie Danielle (Tsilla Chelton) is such a wicked nasty old woman. She feigns ill health very well but easily seen through once with her for a while. She does this when she cannot get her way. Initially, her put upon paid housekeeper endures this, until she 'accidentally' dies. Then Tatie Danielle moves in with her great-nephew and his family. She continues using her nastiness to manipulate everyone into doing things her way until the family have enough, realise what she is like eventually, and go on holiday to Greece and not have family to look after her but hire a young housekeeper to look after her. Sandrine (Isabelle Nanty) knows what Auntie is doing, and deals with her accordingly.
This is when it becomes a very touching tale for two people of very different generations eventually beginning to form respect and care for each other.
I could not wait to hire this and cannot wait until it is affordable to buy.- Was this review helpful to you?

Hilarious and well observed film about obnoxious elderly lady
By MaryC (23 reviews) from Oxford , 04 Sep 2011Good entertainment - lots of laughs and good observation. It contained some pointed home truths about the difficulties of accommodating elderly relatives.- Was this review helpful to you?

Inoffensive yet extremely tedious.
By a customer from South Yorkshire , 30 May 2010We gave this film 40 minutes of our life and in all honesty it's 40 minutes I wish I had back! Was vaguely amusing but never really got going or seem to have a plot other.- Was this review helpful to you?
