From the creators of South Park comes this comedy about Marionette superheroes fighting to end terrorism and put tired celebrities out of their misery.

    [Highly rated reviewer]

Let me just remind you of the last sentence in the ScreenSelect review of the movie....

'Contains violence, swearing and puppet sex.'

That's about all you need to know.

The violence is puppet gore, blood, decapitation, burning alive and being eaten alive, along with plenty of explosions and gunfire.

The swearing would make Ozzy Osborne blush.

And the puppet sex. Well, if you've ever had any fantasies about what it would look like if Lady Penelope 'did' it with Parker, this movie satisfies that desire.....in spades.

Oh, and there's some very entertaining puppet projectile vomiting too - very Austin Powers and very funny.

Finally, the songs. Oh, the songs, from the rousing 'America, F**k Yeah! Coming in to save the Mother F**king day, yeah!', to digs at Hollywood movies and actors, a great sad lament from the North Korean leader (who sounds amusingly like Cartman at times) and the very amusing Montage song, inspired by 80's action movies. They make what is already a funny and smart movie even more entertaining.

So, definitely not for the kids, but the funniest thing I've seen in years - had me laughing all the way through. Miss it at your peril.

  • Embarrassing Rubbish

This is embarrassing rubbish. As satire, irony, spoof or slapstick it fails on every count. A pity as the underlying concept was a good idea.

There are a few parts in this film which will make anyone crack a smile, but it dragged on and became an effort to watch.

  • Get on the team!

Funniest film of 2004 finds the South Park boys doing a Thunderbirds movie, using puppets to skewer all sorts of targets, including the Bush administration, America's foreign policy, Jerry Bruckheimer movies, liberal celebrities, you name it. So as a crack team run around the globe getting rid of terrorists (ie, anyone who isn't a White Anglo-Saxon), the audience is reduced to tears of helpless laughter. Guaranteed to offend virtually everyone, it boasts some sheer genius comic highlights such as a jaw-dropping sex scene and cinema’s longest ever vomit scene.

  • Very funny puppetry versus not very well fleshed out Hollywood actor bashing.

I'm not saying you have to be American to appreciate the humour, you really don't, but I can see how a Republican voter, say, annoyed at Hollywood actors chipping in and telling people to vote Democrat, would enjoy some of the social commentary on said meddling Hollywood types!

A few good slapstick gags and wonderful puppetry, it got a bit bogged down toward the end with actor bashing!
