Not worth it!!!

A title with 'tribute' in it should have warned me. There is no original Nirvana music and any clips of the band are taken from 3 interviews but are only snippits. Footage of Seattle and surrounding area abound with interviews with 'fans' and 3 main contributors. The only one who seems to have had any genuine ongoing relationship with the band is their photographer. I would recomend skipping this DVD and buying the official Kurt Cobain biography by Charles Cross and put on one of the Nirvana albums.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Not that great
By ketha from Avon , 16 Jan 2005Sadly this is one of these "unofficial" documentaries that doesn't have permission to use the bands music, or many of their interviews. What you're left with is a fan doing what sounds like a undergrad dissertation on "Why Nirvana spoke to alienated youth (and isn't Dave Grohl kinda cute too)" and a few chats with people who met Kurt once, for a drink, in 1990. That said the stuff with the Sub Pop founders is interesting and it adds a little more to story but without the music or any interviews (I lie, they seem to have about a minute of interview with Kurt, but it's hardly enough). Seeing the bridge that was used in the song "Something in the Way" was kinda interesting also... who knew it was such a rural backwater where Kurt came from?
Well, is it worth seeing. Depends, if you're interested in almost any aspect of music history (like myself) then probably yes, (but there's plenty more to see before it), other than that, strictly "for fans, only".- Was this review helpful to you?
