Jeez where to ...By a customer from Birmingham , 13 Feb 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]Jeez where to begin with this film. Okay, it's based on a video game but that's all I know. To be honest I hired it out for the ComputerGenerated animation- I love this sort of thing and I'm interested to see what the Japanese can do with it and maybe bring that dynamism in cell animation to the medium. And like the Resident Evil/Appleseed CG animations, in that regard it's very good. Great CGI smoke and explosions and lighting and effects but everything else .
Okay, I know Japanese animation/stories and characters in manga is something to get used to, the terrible, terrible Laugh Out Loud dialogue (see heading for this review), the 'plot' and the crazy hairstyles and caricature villain oh and there's a giant panda in it that everyone just accepts which isn't realistic and is insane and . STOP. Stop right there because as soon as you start complaining about THAT there are a 100 other crazy, stupid, embarrassing, corny, juvenile audio and visual assaults to the senses to overcome. Written by a 10 year old boy going on 30 it seems with a need for cringeworthy upskirt and lingering crotch camera views (no pantie shots so oddly restrained too) this is a rental to be seen alone (for God's sake don't let your wife or girlfriend see it- saying 'you're being ironic' won't save you). Or laughed at with mates because you hired it out as a joke as there is so much that is unintentionally hilarious. Saying the Japanese animation based on computer game doesn't translate well to a Western audience is an understatement. This would have been bad in Japan. Some characters just disappear from the storyline. A battle between two sisters and their 'armies' would have been great, had they bothered to show it. And some hammy CGI teacher says 'Excellent!' never to be seen again who I now realise was there simply for exposition.
But you won't be hiring it out for meaning. It's the fights I guess you'll be interested in. It does boast a big boss battle at the very end (lots of dull nothing in between though- not the fight fest I was expecting) although some of it is pinched from the Matrix films. Hard to recommend but 3 stars for fulfilling the CGI eye candy remit which is good. Just next time hang a story on it with believable characters.
Last word: The picture quality looked 'odd' on my plasma screen, as if the DVD was reformatted and there was an interlace issue (there is an odd doubling in some detail) which becomes noticeable when the picture is static, which isn't very often so you might forget about it as you eat your own fist in disbelief.

Alright, but should have been betterBy Mazaran (43 reviews) from Okehampton , 07 Sep 2013This starts off well but then it goes downhill. If it had stuck to a tournament based plot such as Mortal Kombat or Dead or Alive then it may have been quite good, instead the plot is shambolic with some characters making an appearance solely to make an appearance. The fight scenes are good and there is comedic elements but this should have been so much better.
Testing review system on accBy a customer , 13 Jun 2013No idea what the film is about. Just testing to see if my review is posted. Not that bad considering

All Grunt, No PunchBy WongOrWhite (113 reviews) , 22 Jan 2013Basically, this is all eye candy...the fight scenes and the CGI is incredible but of course this is balanced out by the awful storyline and non-existant plot...you'll go through wondering what the hell is going on and then a fight scene will start and you won't care anymore because it's so pretty...there's also a lot of character cameos just for the sake of them...to be honest, this film would have been equally as good, if not better if they just did away with the story altogether and just had an hour and a half of continuous fighting...
kept expecting to hear "get ready for the next battle" between scenes..By blanchman (7 reviews) from Nottingham , 08 Sep 2012For fans of the fighting genre this will be enjoyable, the animation is high quality, and although not as many fights as i would have liked, they are well choreographed with great music. However for fans of tekken this may be hit and miss. Only a very small part of the tekken cast are in this film, and although i dont expect for the whole roster to be crammed into 90 minutes, i would have like a few more. Also this may sound picky to casual fans but it bugged me that none of the fighters really stay true to their combos and style in the fight scenes. But overall i would definetly recommend a rental on this if you are a fan of the tekken series or fighting films in general.
akira styleBy mandyksmith (4 reviews) , 18 May 2012good animation, just the right amount of fighting in it for me, it does leave it open for a second film though, what with the actual iron fist tournament that's spoken about but nothing of it is seen, also, I was lead to believe there's more to our main female character than the fact that she can fight well, as why would one of our male characters (a Devil genome enhanced male - Jeen) see her as a potential threat for later on, after all she is just a normal unenhanced human female or is she ???.
