Gruesome and twisted
At times Tell Me Something is an incredibly enjoyable thriller. Gruesome in places, well acted and nicely shot. For the rest of its running time however, it fails to raise to the occasion.
The story plods along at times and the characters are nwhere near as engaging as they should be. Which is a shame because there's a neat premise in there somewhere, struggling to break free from its bin liner.
So to speak.
This has been causing all kinds of contrversy for it's graphic scenes of gore - but it also has heaps of atmosphere and chills too - makes silence of the lambs etc look like the teletubbies. Watch if you can.
Humdrum serial killer flick. Not as gory as some of the other reviews on this page would have you believe. I telegraphed the identity of the killer within the first 20 mins and you will do likewise. Only the (bizarre) placement of Placebo's excellent 'Without You I'm Nothing' album as an integral plot point gets this a 2 star rating !!

Not as gory as some reviews would have you believe. And you can work out who is doing what really early on it the film, so you are just left looking at the visuals which aren't all that inspiring. In other words, don't bother.

I didn't particularly notice the gore but I did notice its style was very Hollywood, and the story seemed to me to be similar to Basic Instinct.
Not a bad film, but a bit slow and did not engage me (I admit to watching it in two sittings but that was because I fell asleep when I first tried to watch it). Nearly turned it off before the credits but left it on for the inevitable twist.
I'd say you'd be better off watching a Hollywood thriller, a dedicated horror movie, or if you want a far-Eastern cop movie I'd recommend Akira's groundbreaking film-noir Stray Dog instead.
This is a film that when you look back on it should not have been as enjoyable as it turns out to be. The plot is a rip off of giallo/basic instinct type thrillers and the violence is at times truly sickening but the pace is steady and the set direction so playful (the scenes in the lift are real classics) that you don't really mind that much. You need a strong stomach and even stronger sense of credulity to watch this but overall a good entry in the Korean Horror genre
Could not even watch it, don't waste you're time people!
Even my brother could not watch it, and he loves they type of films.
