One of the best anime series out there!
By a customer from Sussex , 11 Apr 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Tenchi Muyo is surprisingly good, with imaginative and emotional stories, The 2nd disk in the series is a must watch as characters develop and story lines flow, I love the eastern edge these episodes encapsulate, which really outlines the fundamental factor of anime which makes it so different from western animation.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Not that great...
By Bezman (82 reviews) from Glasgow , 10 May 2009This is one of the most famous anime series and - unfortunately - it's more thanks to the female cast than any major depth in the characters or brilliance in the writing.
The conclusion of the first major story arc felt unsatisfying as Tenchi's transformation seemed like a poorly explained deus ex machina.
The entire female cast's infatuation with Tenchi makes the show feel 1-dimensional at times and - along with the nude bathing scenes - seems like wish fulfillment and fan service respectively.
'Hello Baby' is a fun episode to watch, thanks to a montage of silliness and a slight deepening of character. The character designs have become iconic and the animation is far more involved than the typical TV anime, with more actual animation and visual interest.
None of this is enough to make it as great as the massive fanbase might have you believe.- Was this review helpful to you?
