    [Highly rated reviewer]

Another excellently drawn and voiced show. However, the problem I've had with the entire series up to his point has been the over-use of recapping done by the characters. I don't mean in the sense of a recap-episode to bring new viewers up to date with the main story. Rather, it seems as if the main story we encountered on volume one is nothing more than filler, as almost half of the episodes have been one character or another telling the two newest students at Todo Academy what happened a few years ago.

Personally, I find this infuriating, as so far, we've finised one major recap, and are now getting the other half of that story, and we've only got one more volume to go before the series ends. There has been little character development outside of three people - the main antagonist, the secondary female lead (who becomes the main female lead in this back-story), and her brother (who in the main timeline is actually dead). There has been next to no development in the series of what I thought were the main male and female leads, nor the other characters involved in what could have been a tremendous story.

Often fighting animes don't go into quite enough backstory, or they just don't need any. This one has gone in the opposite direction, and become almost nothing but backstory. And after so many episodes of it, a tedious backstory at that.
