This is a timeless ...
By Sally#60 from HAXBY , 26 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
This is a timeless film about the interaction between mother and daughter. The two women are fabulous as constantly warring, but always affectionate, mother and daughter, and Jack Nicholson is brilliant as the lothario next door neighbour.
If you are a woman, watch this and aspects of you and your own mother will jump out at you. If you are man, you will see that no matter how difficult she can be, why you never ever slate your mother in law to your wife!
I laughed, I cried, by the end of this film you will be an emotional wreck!- Was this review helpful to you?

A movie Classic
By Bobsview (559 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 05 Apr 2012Outstanding romantic drama. Superb cast, and script. Debra Winger and Shirley Maclaine were unforgettable and totally superb as daughter and mother. Films do not get any better than this one. No wonder it won 5 Oscars. Still as good today as when made 30 years ago. This film makes you laugh and cry all the way through. Mother daughter and other family relationships writ large. If you have never seen it watch it now with hanky at the ready!- Was this review helpful to you?

Good Effort Spoilt by Soppy Music
By Cato (715 reviews) from Lydbury North , 26 Sep 2011A very well acted piece with an awfully soppy score of descending piano notes which kept cropping up every five minutes and spoilt the plot, which was in essence a good one, but made sentimental by the turgid music.- Was this review helpful to you?

In terms of love...Parents to their children.
By Onlylexus (119 reviews) from Chesterfield , 05 Jul 2011A film about relationships, of parents to their children of husbands to their wives. I know that the main thrust of the movie was mainly about a mother and daugter relationship. But for me the thing that touched me the most was the emotional turmoil of the 3 youngsters and how they were feeling towards their parents. In this case mom and dad were played by Deborah Winger and Jeff Daniels, who obviously loved their 3 kids very deeply. However, after both having been unfaitful to each other they were forced to recognise that the kids had to come first, especially now that mom had terminal cancer. To see the poor kids having to deal with the death of their mother really broke me up terribly. I have an 8 year old son who I love more than I can ever say here, a son who I do not see anymore. But even though I miss him terribly and his mother alienates him from me, I could not bear the idea that he would have to face the distress of losing his mother at such a tender age. I think Terms of Endearment is a film that all parents should see and deeply think about. kids come first and always should, but Oh I wish that all parents could see it and do what's best for them instead of using them as tools to hurt the other parent.- Was this review helpful to you?
