    Rubbish...

A bad plot, bad acting, bad dubbing and a bad ending....

Way too much squealing...I kept looking for the tortured pig.

A film for the seriously macbre or phychotic murderers.

    reasonable film

I enjoyed seeing this one again. Would have given it 4 stars but for a weak denoument, some iffy acting(some iffy dubbing too), and a rather bizarre last few minutes.Pity a combination of the heroine's heavy breathing and squealing, plus the background music, drowned out what the killer was saying near the end. Had to guess a bit about the killers reasons. At least this film is a lot better than the same director's similar Phantom of the Opera remake, which is a complete mess and barely worth one star.

Not as good as vintage Argento but not bad

While lacking the brilliance of films like Suspiria or Inferno, Argento's 1987 offering has much to recommend it, including some seriously brutal murder scenes and the scary concept of having to keep your eyes open while watching someone get murdered due to having needles taped under your eyes. Worth renting just for the hysterically over-the-top death of Daria Nicolodi, who's died for Argento many times before...

    Argentos last stand

Made in 1987, Terror at the opera is Argentos last classy film. I would have given it 4 stars if it weren't for the seriously silly ending. Its very stylish, suspenseful and gory. Both william mcnamaras and Daria Nicolodis murders are classic Argento. Dario hasn't made a really good film since this. 2004's The card player was very stylish but stangely low on the gore content

    Cheesy Horror

I was attracted to this movie from a clip I saw on a behind the scenes of horror movies documentary I saw of a kid. That clip is still by far the best in this movie - a man fires a bullet through a spyhole, through a womans eye, and into the telephone behind her. Its a very gritty moment and from just that clip you hope and pray that this film will live up to it, a very cool thriller. But, alas, it is instead a cheesy as cheeseballs horror film that is too self-conscious to be scary.

    Terrible...not Terror

Terrible film....stupid plot. Just an excuse to put some bits of good music to a silly story!

    What a waste of time.

    Lost the plot ......

Dario Argento lost the plot on this one.

Good set pieces don't maketh a good film, it needs a good story!

If you want Argento then get Pronfondo Rosso (Deep Red).

    Delightful

Argento produces moments of delightful gore in this horror flick, but some wooden acting lets it down. Watch the film in Italian, with English subtitles preferably as the dubbing into English is the most shocking aspect of this film.

    Kitch horror

You would need to be a really big fan of Dario Argento to enjoy this film. Otherwise, you're much better off watching Deep Red, generally a much better and more convincing film.
